A Message from Our Founder
Why Vet Met Military Community Outreach, Inc.
Was born by Joy Weaver, proud military spouse &
member of Phi Nu Alpha Military Spouses Sorority, Inc.
Vet Met Military Community Outreach, Inc. was created from a moment that forever changed my heart.
One day, I heard someone tell a veteran that because she had never been in combat, she was “not a real soldier.”
Those words shook me deeply. They were painful, untrue, and unjust.
Whether she ever saw combat or not, she raised her right hand and took an oath to protect this country. She chose service over comfort. She committed herself to something far greater than most will ever understand. That moment opened my eyes to a truth we do not speak loudly enough: every veteran who answers the call no matter where they served or what their role was deserves honor, respect, and gratitude.
From that moment forward, I made a promise.
A promise to celebrate all who answered the call to serve.
A promise to educate, uplift, and remind our community that service is not defined by combat, but by courage, sacrifice, heart, and duty.
As a proud military spouse myself, I also knew that behind every uniform stands a silent hero.
A spouse who serves in a different but equally powerful way.
A spouse who holds the home together during deployments, who wipes children’s tears, who sleeps alone through countless nights, and who carries the weight of worry with unwavering strength.
This is the silent oath a military spouse takes the moment they marry a service member.
It is a pledge of love, resilience, and courage that often goes unrecognized.
And so, Vet Met Military Community Outreach, Inc. was born—with a mission rooted in love, respect, and gratitude for both our veterans and our military spouses.
Why We Host the Vet Met Gala
The Vet Met Gala is more than an event.
It is a night of honor, celebration, and healing.
We created the Vet Met Gala to shine a powerful spotlight on the extraordinary people who have served our nation—both in and out of uniform. Each year, we gather to celebrate their sacrifices, their courage, their devotion, and their impact on the military community.
It is a space where stories are honored, where heroes feel seen, and where spouses are finally acknowledged for the incredible strength, they quietly carry.
The gala allows us to raise funds to support military families, provide scholarships for military children, and expand our outreach in meaningful ways. But above all, it allows us to say “Thank you. We see you. We honor you.”
What began as a moment of heartbreak grew into a mission of love, celebration, and unwavering dedication to those who serve.
From my heart to yours,
thank you for supporting our mission and helping us honor the heroes who protect our nation and the spouses who protect the home.
